Divorce Court in Utah can be confusing

How is Divorce Court handled in Utah?

Divorce Court is first handled by a judge that is called a Commissioner. A district court judge oversees the Divorce Court or your specific Divorce case, but a Commissioner is who you will appear in front of the whole time unless your case goes to trial. Divorce Court in Utah can be difficult and hard to work your way through it. For example, every time you file a motion in front of the Commissioner in divorce court you have to schedule a hearing and give notice to the opposing party that a hearing has been sent. Then you have certain deadlines for filing pleadings in divorce court before that hearing.
