Divorce Court is first handled by a judge that is called a Commissioner. A district court judge oversees the Divorce Court or your specific Divorce case, but a Commissioner is who you will appear in front of the whole time unless your case goes to trial. For example, every time you file a motion in front of the Commissioner in divorce court you have to schedule a hearing and give notice to the opposing party that a hearing has been sent.
